June 10, 2025 - Optimise charging for energy price

Up until now, we’ve been optimising charging to minimise grid carbon emissions. From today, we can now optimise for energy price as well. Fortunately, these mostly follow a similar curve (see the example below) as using lower-carbon energy is normally cheaper. But, with this change, we can now account for tariff nuances, like the 4-7pm surcharge on the Agile tariff.

June 5, 2025 - Integrated with Octopus Agile tariff

You can now see the Agile pricing data in the app, allowing you to see how price efficient the optimisation is. This has to be enabled manually for a user for now, but we’ll add a feature soon to control your energy price yourself.

Note: if you don’t have the tariff set manually, you won’t see any changes yet.

June 3, 2025 - Improved uptime

We’ve had a few short outages over the last weeks. To resolve this, we’ve fixed the underlying issues, but we’ve also implemented an improved monitoring system.

This is a /health endpoint which can be checked with an external provider. Which checks:

If any of these fail, the endpoint will return an error, and an engineer will be alerted.

April 9, 2025 - When should I run my dishwasher?

We’ve heard from many of our customers that they already try to run some of their appliances overnight. Things like Dishwashers, Bike Chargers, or Washing Machines. The Windfall Plug can help automated the charging of a bike, but we don’t yet have a solution for the dishwasher.

This new feature addresses that .We now show the Windfall Hours for the next three days, with a comparison between each. As an example, let’s say you have a dishwasher, you normally put it on overnight a couple of times per week. The Windfall Hours let you choose which day would be best.

Note: We’re currently only showing today and tomorrow, but we’re working on a AI model which will allow us to predict further into the future. More on this soon 👀

In this example, we can see that we can save a lot of carbon by using our appliance tomorrow night rather than tonight.
